Month: May 2011

  • Hii! *roll around everywhere*

So I'm back in Sacramento now and I'm halfway through with my summer break! :O I'm already moving back to Merced two weekends from nowww for my internshipsies. It seems SO SOON because I got way comfy with the stay-at-home-for-3-months-with-a-class-at-CRC lifestyle.

I've pretty much been having a lazy summer. @_@! Also a bored summer. e.g. a spontaneous, "DAD, I'M BORED, DYE MY HAIR" so it's now just tinted a little brown/off-black. I don't think you can even tell unless you were already aware that I dyed my hair.  gg  XD I also thought this was a prime time to get a Hulu Plus subscription so I've watched ALL of American Dad! probably twice through now. LOL. >__> Exciting summer, amirite?

I've also been changing my nail colors like, 3 times a week. I'm way on a nail polish kick. OPI SHATTER, MY LOVE, I WILL PURCHASE YOU SOON D:

But I did have a bunch of shopping sprees with my parents while I'm prepping for my first time living off-campus! :O snap~! So far we've finished up with the bed hunt, and now I am looking for the perfect desk
chair! =_= I'm after you, desk chair!
    +desk lamp
    +fan
I'M AFTER ALL OF YOU =.=

Came back from the mall on Monday and took my first "haul" picture just to show Phuc what I bought, but whatevs I went through all that effort to line up everything on my bed so MIGHT AS WELL:
    ..+ stuffed animals

But my favorites have been Saturdays because those have been the days that I've been able to hang out with Phuc. :O We usually go out for dinner then shop until it's time to drop me back at home. XD fun times weeee

NOW I'M TOO LAZY TO WRITE MORE.  I will say that I WISH I WAS AT FANIME.  One of these years, my sweet.

Someday, I will have something interesting to say about my day. SOMEDAY.

    i rly want ice cream.

i've had enough, this is my prayer

    Bye for now!

  • Whew!

Finally done with months of week-to-week lab reports and quizzes and midterms and essays.  Meaning I have time for my hobbies again!  Including Xanga.  You can tell that I had a little more free time Fall '10 semester because I actually existed on this site back in those days.  Oh, the life!

I've been treating Twitter as blogging-on-the-run, so that filled the hole in my heart whenever I wanted to blog but knew I didn't have the time.  Otherwise, a woman needs to allocate her free time reasonably, and I've been putting my free time into watching Conan O'Brien's new show.  And Fringe.  My goodness that show is getting intense.  So my choices have been between been typing here (on top of writing for school) versus mindless brain-resting with various internet shows.  Guess which I chose. @_@.

I'm not going to try to make this less mundane than it actually is.  I'm not trying to impress anyone today.  I'm just waiting for my nails to 100% dry before I go back to packing and cleaning up my dorm before I go back home to Sacramento, so this is basically my chatter to myself until that happens.

You call it boring.  I call it keeping it real.  I'm sitting on my bed right now.  That's pretty real.  I got proof: my booty on my bed.  REAL.  I don't think I'm using the slang properly.

OKAY, I just looked it up on urbandictionary.

Keep it real: To not be fake.  Be yourself.

So, I AM using it properly.  It's pretty "being myself" that I am bumming out on my bed after all my finals ranting on my Xanga that I am bumming out on my bed after all my finals.  So game set match.  Point to me.  Winner.

Okay actual news in my life:
    * Got into a pretty sweet research internship at UC Merced.  I'll be working in my first-choice laboratory that I've been pursuing since freshman year, and my mentoring professor is really stoked about me.  I'm going to start doing stem cell research in the Fall.  So I'm definitely staying in Merced to pursue the internship and whatnots.
    * Told Phuc I'd apply to UCD to open the possibility of making our long distance relationship into just a relationship and followed through.  So, I applied to UC Davis, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and UC Irvine last November (the other three UCs were just for funsies).  Got into all four, so that was flattering!  :)  BUT, all of the acceptance letters were after I put down my security deposit for my house and after I was accepted into the internship, so lolololololol.  It looks like I'll still be in Merced next year.
    * Less major, but my roommate is transferring to Cal next year so we had a huge "let's just bum out and watch movies all day" day today.  We just finished shopping + two 2.5-hour-long movies so I'm pretty tired.  She drank a butt load of sweet tea though so she's pretty hyper on sugar right now.

It's like when I played tag with that kid at the playground all over again.  HOW DO CHILDREN HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY?

Did I have that much energy as a kid?  Nowadays I'm pretty spent after rushing to class.  I believe it though.  I remember most of my childhood at Cassell Elementary being spent literally chasing boys (yeah, I was that girl) and going on adventures in the soccer field (mostly collecting ladybugs).

A few hobbies that I tried to keep up in spite of a busy semester: make-up and nails! XD I am such a giiiiirl.

    NOW I'M SLEEPY

    DONE

What if I ended all my posts like that?  Just: "DONE" then run away?

    DONE

  • One more week until I'm halfway done with college.

Getting through this last stretch is way harder than I expected, because I got sick this week.  Yeah, I'm sick on finals week.  It's really getting in the way of studying.  I've spent every waking minute of the last two days with tea or soup in my hands to try to make it through finals.

I know I haven't been here in a while, it's because of school.  I've been doing pretty well -- currently have an A in all my classes (although that may change depending on how these finals go *knock on wood*) because I've been studying up.  Also because of Hulu.  Why post when I could be watching the new Fringe?

Very weary getting through studying for my Biology final, which is tomorrow.  I wanted to take a break, so I found myself back here.  I'm writing very plainly and dull because of the sickies.  Otherwise I'd be rolling around everywhere.

I actually have a lot to say, but that'll have to wait.  If you're really impatient you can catch snippets of my life on twitter @merrychrista.

Back to reviewing G-protein-coupled receptors.  Feet, don't fail me now.
