Happy New Year's Eve!

I realize, I never talked about my Christmas holiday.  The surrounding days were wonderful, while the 25th itself was very stressful.  Overall, I found it an enjoyable holiday.  In earnest, I spent the entire month before Christmas with dread, despite it being my favorite holiday.  While no one was at fault, I'm sure, last year I went to my first Christmas party, and I didn't receive any presents except from Phuc.  So for the last month, I've been extremely pessimistic about Christmas this year.  Only Phuc knows the gravity of it.  But on the 23rd of the month, Phuc surprised me at my apartment with many friends to greet me for Christmas, including quite a few friends that I haven't seen even since high school.  It was really exciting and heartwarming, I spent much of it being speechless and shy and happy.  Thank you again for everyone that came to surprise me or wanted to attend.  I'm tired right now, so I was actually wayyyyy happier and excited than I am making this sound, lol. bland writing is bland.

I spent Christmas Eve shopping with Phuc, mostly jumping between stores to see which ones were open.  We played chubby bunny in nearly every parking lot that we went through.  We've been planning to play chubby bunny since very early last November, and finally did it on Christmas eve.  It was very fun and we spent the entire time laughing.

All in all, my year could have been better.  I just hope 2011 will be better than how this year went.  My favorites are summer school with Phuc, the times with my sister, hanging with Michelle, the times in Davis, and all the times I snuck away to Raley's to buy a cup of gelato.

When I was a little girl, I went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with my family.

It was for my mother's company party.  Her company reserved the entire aquarium just for its employees that day.  We drove up from San Jose to spend the day there.

I had a wonderful time.  I ate escargot for the first and only time in my life thus far, and I danced with my brother.  I don't remember much of the actual aquarium.  One instance that I remember is when we first entered, and I stared long and hard out towards the bay looking for sea lions.  I didn't see any.

The other instance that I remember is when my dad was carrying me around, and we were approaching the octopi exhibits.  The area was more dimly lit, and there was a large octopus climbing up the viewing window.  All of its suction cups were exposed towards me, and at my little stature and young age, it was threatening and frightening to me.  I cried and begged my dad to take me away from the octopi exhibit, and he did.  I was so scared.

Since that day, I've never been back to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  But it's on my bucket list now, to go there again someday.

But I realize, I don't know why.  Right now I know I love zoos and looking at animals, but the only things I remember about the Monterey Bay Aquarium are not seeing any sea lions, eating escargot, dancing, and crying at the octopi.

Either way, when I go back someday, I'm gonna go back to the octopi exhibit, and this time, I'm going to enjoy it.

When I was seven, I decided that my life needed to be as interesting as the cartoons that I watched on television.

I lived an average life where I came home, did homework, played games with my family, drew pictures, watched television.  But I wanted to travel to mysterious worlds and catch Pokemon and talk to animals.  I believed that someone I knew would one day eventually truly travel to a parallel universe, and I was going to be damned if it wasn't me.  I only wanted to read the mysterious-looking books in our school library thinking that I'll eventually find the book that would warp me into some magical fairytale land inside the book.  I would spend hours just staring at my open palm, trying to imagine fire there and be able to summon flames like a sorceress.

After a few months, I realized it wasn't happening.  At first I was actively pursuing the art of wizardry, but before long I was just a simple daydreamer that imagined that something big was going to happen for me.  I was destined for great things.  And it wasn't long after that that I got impatient and just started creating the interesting, adventurous world that I wanted to be in, the one where I'm a sorceress and defending the world from evil.  For one, I formed a vigilante group in my second grade class where we pretty much just tattletaled on people to the teacher, and I would reward everyone with handmade word search puzzles for a hard day's work of world-saving.  Within a few weeks, we devolved from a vigilante troupe to a word search puzzle club where all we did was make, distribute, and finish each other's word search puzzles. 

But I was quick to move on from that failed fiasco of heroism and went on to making up stories about seeing actual Pokemon in the soccer lawn, so I took my then-vigilante-now-word-search-puzzle-club out to the field to go Pokemon hunting.  I swear, I saw a Pikachu and a Caterpie right there!!

I was legitimately going somewhere with this, but fudge that I got a final tomorrow I'm gonna go back to studying.  use your imaginations liek i did when i was seven

Do you ever go Christmas/birthday shopping for me and just go, "Actually, I have no freakin' clue what to get for this *****"?  Well, you've come to the right place, my friend.

I was writing this for Phuc because I've started to make him one every year in light of the upcoming Annual Winter Gift Season that he must truck through (Christmas + my birthday on Jan 7th, + Valentine's Day), so I figured I might as well make it public just in case anyone else needs it... despite the unlikeliness of that.  orz  </self-pity>  It's kind of spaz and really long and nonsensical because it's written with Phuc as an audience, so bear with me.
