How do you deal with stage fright?
Lol.
I used to get really terrible "stage" fright, whenever I had to present in front of the class, despite generally being a proficient speaker. In the seventh grade, I froze up in the middle of an essay presentation for ~10 seconds that felt like forever. In the beginning of the eighth grade, I presented a poem during which I constantly stuttered. In social studies, I was so nervous to sing the Star Spangled Banner that I was so quiet that no one had the heart to make eye contact with me.
So, I suddenly got tired of it, and abruptly jumped for the Vice Presidential school election in the eighth grade, with no intent to win -- I just wanted to present a speech in front of the entire school and kick major ass at it. I was set on practicing my public speaking skills, and things just went up from there.
. I eventually prevailed in the rest of my eighth grade presentations, and gave a tubular valedictorian speech at the end of the school year.
I'm not some professional expert public speaker or amazing actress of amazing pro-ness, but I was able to stand up in front of a crowd without wanting to run away, cry, and hide anymore. And that was awesome. :3 Since then, I haven't gotten any stage fright at all, nothing beyond some butterflies in my tummy and sweaty palms and the contant need to pee. xD
But whenever I have to get up on stage, whether that be at the front of the class or under the spotlight in the theatre, I feel really proud of myself because I know with all my heart that being able to confidently stand there isn't some God-given blessing; it's something I've worked hard for in order to be able to do.
zomgz practice wee.
Basically: I deal with stage fright by beating it up. Lulz.
